Brief Introduction of Richie Sambora

Richard Stephen "Richie" Sambora (born July 11, 1959) is an American rock guitarist, producer, musician, singer, and songwriter who is the longtime lead guitarist of the rock band Bon Jovi. He and frontman Jon Bon Jovi form the primary songwriting unit of the band. He has also released three solo albums: Stranger in This Town in 1991, Undiscovered Soul in 1998, and his third, Aftermath of the Lowdown was released in September 2012.

Sambora has been known to use a wide variety of equipment throughout his career. He has an extensive guitar collection, featuring more than 120 instruments. He had used several models, including a variety of custom ones ("one-offs"). One of his most notable guitars from the Slippery When Wet album/tour was his Richie Sambora signature

The Richie Sambora Signature Model

In 1986, Dennis Berardi, President of guitars approached Richie Sambora, the guitarist in Bon Jovi and asked if he wanted to produce him a signature guitar. Sambora agreed and the RS signature was put to the drawing board. The first models came out in early-mid 1987. There was a star sticker on the body near the top horn. Pickup surrounds were gold also. Electronics were a single volume control, 5 way switch that was perpendicular to the string direction and 2 coil tap switches.
(As the picture below shows, our replicated Richie Sambora also Featured a volume control, 5 way switch, 2 mini switch.)

Neck was a bolt on pointy head and star MOP inlays. Some heads had a star on the tip of the head while others did not. (As shown in the picture below, our guitar is also pointy drooped headstock, gold hardware, star-shaped fingerboard inlays.)

By 1989, optional features were black Floyd and hardware, maple or rosewood fretboard, and lefty versions. (Our replicated Richie Sambora Signature Guitar is featured maple fretboard, but you have the freedom to choose which kind of wood you think will suit your taste better.)However, by the end of 1989, the Sambora was dropped and quit production. Today it has been reissued by MusicYo, and is named "Jersey Star", no longer carrying Sambora's actual name.

Taken from Vintage GuitarReflecting back, Sambora had this to say about the guitar:"Dennis Berardi was doing extremely well with at that point thanks to Eddie Van Halen. We got to be friends, and he asked me if I wanted to do a model, and I said 'Sure'. So I tried to put something together that would give me the dexterity I needed. It had stars on the fretboard, a Floyd Rose, and DiMarzio pickups. I played them every night, too. A guy named Rod Schoepher, who had also made me a few custom instruments, would fix them to my liking when they came out of the factory, because's custom shop wasn't really up and running; the whole idea of custom shops wasn't happening yet."
